Producing high purity alumina (HPA) involves several key steps. First, high-quality raw materials like bauxite or kaolin clay are selected. The Bayer process is used to extract aluminum hydroxide by mixing the raw material with hot sodium hydroxide, then filtering out impurities. The aluminum hydroxide is precipitated, washed, and then calcined at temperatures between 1000°C and 1200°C to convert it to aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃). Additional purification steps may be used to achieve the desired purity level of 99.5% or higher. Quality control ensures the final product meets specifications.
